Cyber threats to Organisations – are you prepared?
Given the recent events as documented on the the news in the past week, how do you as an organisation prepare for a potential threat against your data and systems?
Security and prevention is becoming essential for all organisations with the further use of the cloud and internet on a daily basis globally.
Are you able to ask your IT function what are the impacts of a threat and have you been impacted? If yes, do they know whats been impacted and what do you need to resolve it?
What types of threats could you encounter? Some could be completely unintentional threats simply down to internal error that was not done on purpose. Or you could be subject to a threat that someone wanted to happen. Either way your management of the systems and monitoring needs to be in place.
So how do you prevent it? Every organisation has different architecture systems and processes but measures that are effective need to be put in place to reduce loss, fraud and errors. IT hardware and systems, networks and data must be secure to ensure that your organisation is protected.
Have you confidence in the security controls your organisation has implemented? Have you identified security control gaps by internal and external audit? Is the target operating model robust and appropriate to future proof your organisation and satisfy your senior executives and the regulators appropriate measures are in place in the event of a cyber attack?
The upshot is that this is never going to go away with new technologies being rolled out, but protecting you and your organisation has to be at the the top of your priorities for the coming years.
