Fixing broken Programmes / Projects
Its a common request for APS to come in and help review and improve a programme or project in one of our clients, but what approach do we take and what are the benefits?
APS Approach
– We immediately engage with the business to confirm scope of the activity
– Confirm if the requirements have been fully documented and signed off both by the business and all other parties involved in the programme/project
– A review of the requirements is then undertaken to ensure they are adequate for the build and delivery
– Key stakeholders are documented and clear simple governance implemented to ensure messaging and decisions are made
– Clients internal change framework is adhered to support and promote best practice, following the gating process (as required)
– Critical path plans put in place (including all key dependencies agreed)
– Next steps and key decisions documented and signed off
What are the benefits of our approach
– We will know very soon into the review how far the project is off track and where the gaps exist
– Client understands what elements of the programme needing to be addressed / fixed before progressing
– Governance provides the opportunity to raise the flag when help or decisions are needed
– Senior buy in to the approach as they are engaged and being made aware of the status and can see a recovery plan is being implemented to get the programme/project back on track
– Business engagement increases and confidence in the programme/project delivering increases sharply as control and structure is put in place
– Ability to roll out across all portfolios, which allows for a common approach to change and ultimately full delivery of the plan across the organisation
