Role: Development Operations and Environment Manager

Location: Cirencester

Role type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

 

Main Purpose of Job:

  • Management and Leadership of a team of skilled technicians supporting the design, development, testing and release of applications
  • Management and oversight of administration of operational tools in support of the Software Development and Service Management process including Bitbucket, Confluence, Jenkins, JIRA, Nexus, SonarQube and SVN
  • Oversee Environment Management of a large Non-Production estate within a UK FS Regulated organisation
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the Software Configuration Management process across projects and Service Delivery
  • Set /Influence the standards and approach for DevOps and the cultural and technical journey to adopt DevOps as a working model
  • Drive the build of automation for application deployment
  • Support the automation of Infrastructure ongoing to move towards Infrastructure as a code model
  • Support the drive towards a Cloud Native approach to hosting and management
  • Provide insight and data to projects and programmes around code quality Set and maintain the standards for scripting across tools such as Jenkins and SonarQube
  • Manage and own the environment plan to meet the demands of the delivery and service projects
  • Manage the process for upgrades and changes to the development and test environments working with the development, test and technical services teams (internal and external)
  • Manage the test environment configuration, application deployment and activities required to provide a stable test platform working with the Test Manager
  • Support the drive for using Obfuscated data in all Non-Production Environments

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Analysis skills: Ability to evaluate designs and existing environment estate to propose suitable environment builds and configurations
  • SCM: Ability to define manageable SCM processes (checkout/check-in, merge, build, release, etc.) and implement them
  • SCM: Ability to select SCM tools based on needs and to enhance / integrate the SCM technology with other technologies (development IDEs, defect tracking, etc.)
  • Scripting skills: Understanding of SCM automation methods and tools
  • Continuous Integration/ Continuous Development: have strong understanding of CI/CD process and working knowledge of tools like Jenkins, Bamboo
  • DevOps: have very good understanding of DevOps tools used for software development, monitoring, configuration management, version control, infrastructure as code, and test automation
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in UK Financial Services domain
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading Release, Configuration and Environment Team.
  • Experience in managing a suite of environments
  • Experience of environment management and associated tools, methodologies and approaches
  • Experience of IT architecture and infrastructure
  • Experience of the systems development lifecycle, as well as a strong understanding of all stages of a project lifecycle and delivery approaches

Role: 3rd Line Support Engineer

Location: Cirencester

Role type: Contract

Salary: £250-300 per day

 

Main Purpose of Job:

Working as part of a technical team of 3rd line IT engineers, you will be key to ensuring the successful delivery of a variety of virtual server and modern desktop related projects and business as usual tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Job: 

Project work and 3rd line administration in the following areas:

  • Windows 10 managed device administration, including build-development, testing and upgrades
  • System Centre Configuration Manager infrastructure and packaging
  • Microsoft 365 with Office 365 Pro Plus
  • Active Directory and ADFS
  • Windows server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2 and 2008 R2

 

Job Knowledge:

The following technologies and processes would form the core of your skill set to subject matter expert level:

  • Windows 10
  • Microsoft 365
  • Active Directory and ADFS
  • Windows server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2 and 2008 R2
  • System Centre Configuration Manager

It would be beneficial, but not essential if the candidate has experience in any of the following technologies:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, dynamic IT professional with proven history of the delivery and support of laptops and desktops and virtual servers in an enterprise environment. Our client looks to realise the business benefits of technology and has demonstrated its ability to implement new technologies such as Windows 10 and Office 365. They were also early adopters of Amazon Web Services for virtual servers.

 

Problem Solving:

The successful candidate will be part of the 3rd line team for infrastructure projects, providing advice and resolving issues that may arise. To minimise issues and provide early resolution for users, the team has an emphasis on best practice design, build and testing, and is keen to share knowledge and to coach 2nd line teams.

 

Nature and Scope of Impact:

Service Operations is a technical I.T. team delivering projects relating to all outsourced Data Centres and also key services on a Dev Ops basis (such as messaging, Windows 10 workstations and McAfee ePolicy Ochestrator). The team consult on infrastructure design and build all infrastructure changes to provide for application development requirements. All server and workstation patching is also managed by the team.

 

Interpersonal Skills:

The job holder will liaise with business systems, support teams, external suppliers and users at all levels of the client business around the UK. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

 

Special Requirements:

After appropriate coaching and experience has been taken on-board, the jobholder will be included in a rota of early (8am to 4pm), normal (9am to 5pm) and late shift (10am to 6pm), and there is also a 24/7 on-call rota on a weekly basis that applies to approximately 1 week in every 6 weeks. There will be the occasional need to test and implement changes out-of-hours in order to avoid impact to business.

Role: Business Readiness Project Manager (Salesforce)

Location: Cirencester

Role type: Contract

Salary: £400 per day

 

Main Purpose of Job:

The main purpose of this role is to ensure that the Business is ready to adopt changes arising from the Salesforce program. This will involve working with teams across the company, its partners, Field Management Teams (FMT) and 3rd parties. The Business Readiness Project Manager will work with the various business areas to help them understand how the change will impact them. This will involve identifying solutions, building plans, managing issues, building relationships with business stakeholders, and directing tasks to deliver projects to required standards and within detailed timescales.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Job: 

  • Identify impacted teams and work with them to assess upcoming change and identify all required business readiness activities to support the implementation of the change and delivery of business outcomes.
  • Define business readiness plans for the deliverables agreed to cover, but not limited, to training and communications, MI, documentation and literature.
  • Work with the various Project and Programme managers and keep them informed of progress
  • Work with and co-ordinate the activities of many of the support areas i.e. training, communications, test etc. to help support delivery of business readiness.
  • Provide reporting to executive management which articulates the current state of business readiness activity and the company’s readiness for change.
  • Support go live activity & help the business to transition to BAU.

 

People Management Responsibilities:

No direct management responsibilities, however the Business Readiness Project Manager will be expected to provide guidance and support for less experienced colleagues and be able to effectively build relationships and delegate task to individuals within the “virtual” team.

Role: Agile Scrum Master Project Manager

Location: Cirencester

Role type: Permanent

Salary: 60K

Main Purpose of Job:

​To serve one or more Scrum teams and protect them from any distractions and remove impediments that could prevent them from completing sprint goals. The Scrum Master will create an environment that is responsive to change, in which Scrum teams can be self-organising and deliver high quality product increments. Working with the Agile Coach, the Scrum Master will educate Scrum teams in Agile and Scrum values and principles.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:  

  • Facilitate the Scrum team – setting up Scrum ceremonies and hosting them (Product Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective);
  • Ensure the Scrum team adheres to the practices of Scrum and provide the best environment for the Scrum team to achieve success, including coaching on Scrum framework;
  • Create the right environment for the Scrum team members to be open and honest in the daily Scrum meeting and sprint retrospectives;
  • Ensure collaborative working amongst Scrum team members;
  • Remove impediments raised in the daily Scrum meeting to ensure progress;
  • Work with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is in good order;
  • Work with the Product Owner to ensure the product vision and roadmap is on track;
  • Ensure that the Scrum team are using and updating JIRA appropriately and in a timely manner;
  • Work with the Agile Coaches and other Scrum Masters and Product Owners to improve the Scrum framework.

Requirements of the Job:

People Management Responsibilities: 

  • Development of Junior Scrum Masters;
  • Facilitation and motivation of one or more Scrum teams, providing support, guidance and assistance as required to meet project objectives.

Job Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Agile frameworks, Scrum theory and practices;
  • Strong knowledge and experience of waterfall methodologies;
  • Scrum Master certified;
  • Working knowledge of JIRA.

Business Expertise:

  • An understanding of the business, structure and divisions is important to support the projects adopting Agile;
  • An understanding of third-party business structures and working practices important in supporting Agile adoption for joint initiatives;
  • At least two year’s Scrum experience with a proven track record of delivering multiple products using Agile Scrum;
  • At least one year working as a Junior Scrum Master.

Problem Solving:

  • Act as consultant, responding to questions from Scrum teams and providing ideas and suggestions to improve their application of Agile.

Nature and Scope of Impact:

  • Run KDMs, covering all Agile facets, to expand understanding and knowledge of Agile within employee and third-party communities;
  • Take an active part in the Agile Working Group and the wider Agile Community to support Agile projects throughout the organisation;
  • Create Agile materials to support Scrum teams and third parties looking to deliver using Agile techniques.
